Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar is a common problem with small breed dogs until they are 12 weeks old or longer if they are extra small, Hypoglycemia is the medical term for low blood sugar, which is a condition in which there is a drastic, sudden drop in the level of blood sugar in the puppy.

Hypoglycemia is easily treatable in the early stages, but fatal if allowed to progress. Many puppies are lost needlessly to hypoglycemia because of no one knowing what is wrong or what to do.

Make sure your puppy eats well before they play too hard,  If they seem sluggish, Shake, Act Drunk, or even Vomit, give them a dime- size dose of Nutri-cal right away on their tongue if they don't respond in 30 minutes call your vet immediately.

If they seem to be playing really hard it wouldn't hurt to give them a dose to be on the  safe side.  you can overdo it, so no more than once or twice a day. Make sure your puppy has naps during the day this will help to insure your puppy doesn't over do it.
